We've been a quiet community lately -- maybe it's time to start kicking things up a notch. I'll compose a deep, wise post about Zen for you all to laugh at and refute, later today ;)

Okay, I'd like to hear from the OTHER people on here a bit. Thanks craneheaven for posting. How about the rest of you lurkers. Em? How's your practice going? Scott? Let's make this the sangha it was intended to be :)

Back atcha! :D

I'm hoping to get some discussion going on here. I really do like Ordinary Mind flavors of Zen, and it would be nice to see some discussion of the state of people's practice on here :)

My own practice is... inching along. I'm sitting more or less daily. It's hard to let go of the need for my sitting to "be" anything other than just sitting. I've found that one of the hardest tasks for me is letting go of the need for the sitting to "end." Sometimes I meditate a little on what would it feel like if I were to sit forever.

Progress can be frustrating :)

UH. Ok, well, since you called me out of my little hobbit hole of silence... the update is as follows - went to the KCC sangha twice - once for calm-abiding/shamata practice... then again for Chenrezig/compassion practice... Haven't gone since - skipped last week, and last night. Bad Emmy.

Meditated in the bathtub (somewhere I think you're saying that doesn't count) and on Saturday evening made a mala so I could count my mantras - did 150 Om Mani Padme Hung before bed on saturday night...

Totally flipped out on Miss Moo yesterday morning... Major set-back. Was able to recover long enough to see that I was really not angry at her, but taking my feelings of being out of control abt the house and other stuff (see journal for complete details of weekends developments) then asked for help, received it, feeling better...

What can I say - It's two steps forward, one step back.

1. I'd never say your meditation didn't count -- if I did, I'd have to toss out about 90% of my own "mindfulness." Besides, if you thought it was -- it was :)

2. Poor Maddy-moo. But good of you to see it, and good to give yourself permission to be human, even while still trying to be a good mom.

3. Two steps forward and one back STILL means progress :)

*hugs again*
